Who is the program for?
EVERYONE, ages 13 and up, who wants to improve their skiing! All abilities are welcome, classes are small, and training is scaled to your individual needs.
Benefits of the Ski Fit workshop?
Arrive at the coming season with increased strength, power, and endurance specifically in the primary muscle groups used in skiing/snowboarding such as quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and core. Programming will focus on transitioning basic strength into more dynamic attributes like speed, power, agility, balance and reactive strength. This increased athleticism provides greater precision through the trees and bumps, speed control, and direction change. The program also increases stability and flexibility in your hips, knees, and ankles for improved resiliency and injury prevention.
What will I do/learn?
The program incorporates several unilateral exercises, squats, and lower body accessory exercises in addition to specific plyometric drills. Additionally, 90 min sessions allow time for crucial core strengthening exercises! The agility work will consist of a multitude of single leg stability and balance exercises, such as unilateral jumps and landings. You can continue to practice the flexibility and agility training protocols covered on your own without the use of gym equipment.
What if I’m already training 3x/week at Ridgeline or another gym?
Remember, it’s just 8 weeks. Secondly, the programming has detailed focus points on athleticism, joint mobility, and ligament strengthening related to skiing that will build on and mesh with the more general strength and conditioning you're currently doing. Finally, you will have fun, learn new exercises and get to train with Alexa!
In addition to coaching at Ridgeline Alexa also works with athletes at Linsacum Training Institute and Powderhorn Mountain Resort. After many years in competitive gymnastics and tennis she now competes in the sport of Olympic weightlifting. A Colorado native, Alexa has not missed a ski season since age three! She will help you express your gym gains on the mountain with stronger, more confident skiing!!
